Matthews Baking Powder

Each of artist Valerie Bunnell’s whimsically impactful “tin people” is built around an antique can; Bunnell then uses high-grade wire to attach hand-formed clay arms, heads, and legs, which are colored with a worn patina and fired at high temperature. This wire allows for the sculpture’s limbs to move; it’s also used as the figurine’s “hair” which Bunnell often decorates with beadwork and small hardware. This one-of-a-kind piece looks great displayed on its own, but truly shines when paired with other pieces from the artist’s collection. Ceramic base included; figure may also be displayed via attached hanging wire.
